Root-surface cleaning and polishing are key steps: calculus and plaque (including superficial endotoxin-containing cementum) should be removed sub- and supragingivally as a prerequisite for periodontal regeneration and healing. This set uses rotary instrumentation conservatively to help meet those requirements.
