LM Activator Orthodontic Appliance Starter Set

LM Activator — designed in different sizes for ideal occlusion. Aligns teeth, increases arch circumference length, and activates mandibular development. Orthodontic appliance for orthodontic treatment and eruption guidance. Treatment usually starts when the first permanent lower incisors are seen erupting; can also be used in late mixed dentition or early permanent dentition. Functional appliances are shaped in different sizes to meet ideal occlusion. A total of 37 different type and size combinations make it possible to select a suitable LM-Activator for the patient without personal modifications. Simultaneously increases arch circumference length, aligns teeth, and advances the mandible for Class II correction.

Treatment timing

In most cases, starting in early mixed dentition before eruption of the upper centrals is recommended. Best results for buccal crossbite correction are obtained when treatment starts in the deciduous dentition.

Active treatment

LM-Activator should be worn every night while sleeping. Parents should check that it is correctly seated in the sleeping child’s mouth before sleep. If it has fallen out, rinse with cold water and gently place it back. If treatment started after eruption of permanent upper incisors, two hours of daytime wear in addition to night use is recommended until alloocclusion is corrected. Daytime wear can be split into intervals of at least 30 minutes each. Teeth should seat firmly into the appliance with lips closed. Avoid chewing, clenching, grinding, and hard biting while the appliance is in the mouth. Second appointment 4–5 weeks after start; subsequent appointments every 10–12 weeks.

Retention

Ending active treatment depends on individual characteristics. In most cases treatment can end when lower canines come into occlusion and a lingual retainer is placed on the lower jaw. If the patient has a retrusive mandible or deep bite, night use should continue until the pubertal growth spurt ends. Retention appointments every 6 months are recommended.
